Gamer
You began with Shoots and Ladders
and its partner Candyland,
but you quickly discovered that compared to electronics
board games were simply too bland.
In your quest you discovered Atari
and in a day you aced Combat and Pong.
Soon you desired better graphics and challenges
and upgraded to Nintendo and Donkey Kong.
The grip of your addiction
tightened along with your age,
spending thousands on cutting-edge technology
in order to keep up with the gaming rage.
And on your sixteenth birthday
you turned down a new motor scooter.
While your parents stared at you baffled
when you asked for this thing called a computer.
Your first job was at Radio Shack
and your free time was spent in the arcade.
You asked your boss if, instead of a check,
in quarters you could be paid.
And once you did have a girlfriend
which lasted almost a week.
Until she confessed she could not take the pressure
of being seen in the halls with a geek.
Right now your hair is so shaggy
your face can barely be seen.
Next month you turn thirty two
but you behave as if still just a teen.
You're a wizard with things
that must be plugged in.
You're a master of games,
you won't stop 'til you win.
