Who is Mark Sean Wilson?
Later in his childhood and early teenage years Mark discovered MAD Magazine and was greatly inspired by the hilarious drawings by Mort Drucker and John Caldwell on the pages and especially Sergio Aragones in his famous "margin art". He considered them some of the most skilled cartoonists of the time. He also possessed great admiration for the art of Charles Shulz and his Peanuts gang of Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Snoopy and the rest of those loveable characters. From these formative years his talents were sharpened as he developed an incredibly skillful eye for detail and expressions. Eventually capturing detail and emotion in his illustrations became Mark's trademarks. Mark has three brothers including a twin. Up until May of 2007 he had lived his entire life in Burbank, California and surrounding areas including Glendale and North Hollywood. He attended Burroughs High School and went on to graduate from Platt College at the top of his class in 2002. After college he pursued a career in graphic design and developed skills in computer and vector based imaging and illustration. However he continued to hold onto his passion of drawing and free hand illustration. Mark was married to his lovely wife Sherrie Wheeler on April 4th, 2004 in Clifton, Texas. On the day he graduated college he proposed to this beautiful Texas native who had moved to California but longed to return to the home of her childhood where she was raised. Two short years later they had their son, Hayden Thomas Wilson, on 12-15-06. Mark and Sherrie with young Hayden in their arms decided to relocate to the heart of the Texas hill country and creative Mecca of the Southwest - Austin, Texas. The stories they had heard of the friendly laid back people and relaxed environment, with lakes and hills appealed to these Californians beyond their ability to resist. Shortly after moving to Austin in May of 2007, in his effort to search out and secure a job, Mark responded to an ad on Craig's List for an illustrator for a book entitled Office Poetry by Robert Petta. Since responding to that ad Petta has used Mark not only for the interior illustrations of Office Poetry and the book design, but also for acting, film editing, stage and set design, and creative advice on Office Poetry Live! You can see Mark's hilarious illustrations by clicking on the sample poems on the home page. Mark Sean Wilson's influence and character is now fully engrained in Office Poetry and he has been a valuable addition to the creative engine of Light Underground and Office Poetry |
